Midsommar
Perception and abstraction
The MIDSOMMAR series was born from observing the summer solstice on the island of Yxlan, in the Stockholm archipelago. During the almost endless twilight, the sky and the sea dissolve into a slow gradient of colour: pink, mauve, blue, green, and golden yellow.
Created from observational drawings, the paintings unfold in pairs: a figurative work capturing a fleeting sensation of the landscape, followed by an abstract painting distilling its essence into colour.
An exhibition at La Bastide-Clairence
Presented at Maison d’Hôtes Maxana in La Bastide-Clairence in August 2022, the group exhibition Transfigurerbrought together four artists exploring the transformation of reality through art. The MIDSOMMAR series was exhibited alongside the works of Alain Quercia, Emmanuel Lesgourgues, and Éliane Monnin.
